Kim Jaeckel
I am a family photographer based in Newtown, (upper Fairfield County) Connecticut who specializes in maternity, newborn and child photography. I’m also a working mom of two, a teacher’s wife, and a lover of good food (especially chocolate!).
I know how busy you are — I try to keep photoshoots as fun and stress-free as possible. I want to let the unique qualities of each subject shine through, I don’t have one “formula” or set up that is going to work for every portrait session. My favorite style is using available natural light, but I can also light a subject indoors to help out when Mother Nature is uncooperative, or to create a special mood.
To me, each photo opportunity is different; and I try to be an observer, not an intruder. Young children especially need some time to let a stranger come into their world. My style is very low-key, preferring the children to take the lead. They let me know when they are ready, and when they are done. Most children are relaxed in their own homes, but I also can shoot in my home/studio or in a mutually convenient outdoor setting.
From years of experience as an art director for a major children’s publisher, I know that photo sessions can be intimidating and stressful, if not handled correctly. With a little perseverance, humor, and luck I am sure that I can successfully capture the spirit of each subject.
It is an honor for me to work with families to create photos and keepsakes that will last a lifetime. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to make a living doing what I truly LOVE.
